Friday saw the event that marks the end of the pilot phase of the CampaignCreator and the start of the National rollout. Over 160 people registered as delegates for this deliberative conference.

We had an excellent range of speakers with Jayne Hathway from Scarman Trust deputising for Matthew Pike, Jamie Rose coming along from MORI, Paul Slatter speaking on behalf of the Birmingham Community Empowerment Network and Stephen Clift giving us an American Perspective. Steve Hilton and I did a Morecambe and Wise style double act to close the morning session.

Special mention has to be made of Prof Stephen Coleman who acted as chair- as usual he nailed it with his engaging style, sharp wit and passionate delivery.

The event was recorded for webcast and is available here. If you want to skip to the meat (i.e. my bit) go to 2 hours and 28 mins.

Activists and Authorities Conference

There is a definate buzz around eDemocracy at the moment and thankfully lots of exciting work has been done in and around Bristol. The ultimate prize for all things “e” has to be the Digital Challenge. Steve is leading Bristol’s bid which is starting to take shape nicely. I was very pleased to be invited along to have dinner at the Lord Mayor’s place a couple of weeks ago to discuss Bristol’s e-potential.
