Thursday was a big day for the Bristol City Council eDemocracy crew. Steve and Carol finally finished the Digital Challenge bid, and in the evening we went to the BT Government Computing Awards for Innovation 2006. The venue was Madame Tussauds in that London which proved to be an excellent location giving us loads of opportunities for japes and silly photos (uploaded here).

As we all (bar Steve) expected, Hilton won the nights main award, Innovator of the Year, adding this to the Chief Execs Innovation Award and the Bristol City Council Innovation Award he won recently. The man clearly has a gift for innovation, he just can’t stop.

We shared a table with a very nice bunch from DEFRA, who unfortunately were unsuccesful in their category. They took it well though, sobbing only briefly before attempting to stage a reenactment of the awards ceremony in which they received a runners up prize. We ended up going on to a late bar in the West End, and very pleasant it was too.
